Like nature, we all have seasons. What season are you in?

I feel lucky enough to work on something I am passionate about. Whether I act as a coach in a coaching session or in a project acting as an Information Technology professional, both professions have one thing in common: serving people. I love people and am fascinated by the power of our brains and bodies.
I do not take this for granted; I look around and see so much potential and so many unfulfilled professionals. Observing myself and others, I realize that we all have seasons like nature.
Let’s explore the seasons:
- ❄️ Winter
Winter has its beauty and is the season bringing the most resistance.
“I should be working harder.”
“I am sick, and I cannot be ill.”
“I should be further ahead.”
“He should trust me, but he doesn’t.”
In all these phrases, we can notice the same pattern. Resistance to what it is.
One thing is a fact: “Every time you fight reality, you lose.” I repeat, “Every time you fight reality, you lose.”. Period.
Coaching a senior professional recently, he shared that he was not proud; he was unmotivated and did nothing that day.
To start, we can note a generalization. Even if it was true that he did nothing that day, he was in a session with me at the time, so we could count it as him doing something.
Recently, I’ve seen professionals at all levels in the winter season and resisting it. Of course, it is not a conscious choice. Most of them are not even aware of it, so it is easy to judge themselves or conclude that they are doing something wrong. In addition, we also have an unspoken agreement nowadays that we should be performing at our top energy 24x7, 365 days per year. This is a myth; we are humans, not machines.
[Food for Thought] What if what you are experiencing now was just part of a larger process? What is your body asking you for right now?
You have wisdom; listen to it!
- 🌱 Spring
One guarantee is that winter is always followed by spring. It may take some time, but it will happen. Flowers bloom, animals are out, trees bud and birds sing.
Like flowers, your life and projects have the potential to bloom. It is time to plant seeds.
[Food for Thought] As you navigate the spring season of growth and renewal, how can you be even more intentional in planting the seeds for your future success?
- ☀️ Summer
This is where we are at our peak. Vitality, energy, flow, fulfillment, joy, abundance, and so on.
I can easily be like water when I feel it is summer in my life. Water is fluid and flows; regardless of what is in front of it, the river always follows its course without questioning or resisting.
The secret? Do not attach when on top, in flow, or energized. This too shall pass.
[Food for Thought] How can I be more like water in all seasons of my life?
- 🍁 Fall
It is time to harvest, to be grateful, to reflect.
I love the colors of autumn. I still remember the first time I realized that trees could change colors, and it was not only green for the whole year. Growing up in Brazil, following the changing seasons when I lived in Canada, was undoubtedly mind-blowing.
[Food for Thought] What else you don’t know exists, and if you knew, it could completely change your life?
TL;DR 👇 - Let’s summarize:
Like nature, we all have seasons.
You can also experience all seasons on the same day, which may feel overwhelming.
Okay, so what do I do with this in real life?
- Acknowledge the season you are experiencing. Be aware of it.
- Do not make it so significant. A season is only a season, and this, too, shall pass. Be present with what it is and make the best of it with what you have.
- Choose intentionally the season you want to experience.
Enjoy the seasons of life!
