How much is enough for you?

How much is enough for you? Do you know the answer?

Coaching so many leaders, I see so often the same pattern. People feel it is not enough. It doesn’t matter what they do, how much they make, and what they achieve. They think it is not enough. They go for the next shining goal, they achieve, and yet, it is not enough.

In fact, it is never enough and will never be until we bring clarity.

Even if you are not aware, you have a number.

Knowing there is always another level to reach, and there will always be, I recommend defining how much is enough in a realistic way.

The difference here is knowing your realistic number if you decide to go for more, and I know you will; it will be because you choose to and not because of an automatic response to an unspoken social agreement.

The lack of clarity and congruence is more present in our lives than we realize. Here are a few examples of phrases that I’ve heard once I bring more awareness to clients:

All I want is to be seen, and all I do is hide.

I have no idea why I am trying to create a million dollars. Isn’t that what everyone is doing?

I’m doing it this way because I’ve always done it this way.

We are unique and complex at the same time.

You are not everyone. – Wise was my mother, who used to say it to me when I was a kid. She was right, and today I understand.

Just because you’ve always done it in a way doesn’t mean you have to keep doing it the same way. Just because you thought you wanted something doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind.

You may be surprised when you realize that enough for you is much less than what you’ve been telling yourself.

Your turn now, take a moment and reflect:

  • How much money/power/fame is enough for you?

  • Why do you want what you say you want?

  • Why do you do what you do?

I would love to hear your thoughts and/or insights.

Keep choosing wisely!
