The Purpose of Life, Demystified
September 1, 2025 · 2 min read
Have you ever thought that you were made for more? Have you ever asked yourself, “Why am I successful and still not happy?”
Many clients tell me, “I have achieved career success, and I still feel empty inside.” Friends or strangers say, “You have it all. Your life is perfect.” Those comments often trigger the same questions: “What is the point?” “What is wrong with me?” “How do I get out of this?”
The pattern is simple: success without fulfillment.
You can win on paper, and if success does not feed your soul, it has failed you.
That’s when people start hunting for a big, life-defining purpose. Finding “the purpose” becomes a pressure point, an urgent mission to discover something beyond themselves.
In a recent session, a client told me, “I feel I am made for something big.” I asked her, “How does it feel?” She paused. I could see her eyes widen as the insight came. She said, “It is heavy. I am scared.”
That moment shows the trap. The idea of being “made for something big” seemed inspiring, but for her, it was a terrible thought, bringing heavy expectation, a pressure that stopped her from moving freely.
People treat purpose like an object to be found, as if it were hidden somewhere obvious. What if purpose were simpler: what if the purpose of your life were simply to be happy?
Every time I reframe the purpose that way, clients relax. They stop chasing an external answer and begin creating from a place of alignment. The work becomes lighter, more creative, and far more sustainable.
I know that this specific client will still create something big. The difference is she will do it from joy and choice, not obligation and strain. One small shift in perspective had a profound impact on how she shows up.
Now it’s your turn. Ask yourself:
-
Which belief feels empowering but is actually pressuring you?
-
What would change if you decided that your purpose is to be happy and enjoy the journey?
Remember, even a small change can make a significant impact.
Choose wisely!
