Leading Under Pressure

Stop Resisting: Make Peace with Where You Are to Move Forward

July 29, 2025 · 2 min read

Two side-by-side photos of the same man at a laptop: first stressed with his head in his hand, then calm and smiling with hands clasped.

Every time you fight reality, you lose.

Let me say it again: every time you fight reality, you lose. Period.

  • I should have been further.

  • I wish I had done it differently.

  • This can’t be happening.

None of these thoughts is helpful to you.

Making peace with where you are isn’t about pretending everything is fine.

It’s not denial. And it’s not about finding delight in what feels hard.

It’s simply choosing not to add more resistance on top of what’s already challenging.

It’s an invitation to see reality as it is. To acknowledge it honestly, release the resistance, and place yourself in a clearer state to choose your next logical step.

When emotions are high, intelligence tends to be low. It happens to all of us.

If you’re feeling the urge to leave your job quickly, I invite you to pause for a moment.

Remember that you’ll bring yourself wherever you go. So, if you improve who you are now, you’ll bring a better version into your next opportunity.

A simple and powerful question to ask is:

  • “How can I feel better here?”

Notice the question: it’s not “How can I feel good here?” - It’s “How can I feel better here?”

It’s an invitation to move one step at a time, to soften resistance, and to increase your awareness.

Now it is your turn. What’s one thing you’re dying to escape right now?

Instead of planning a full exit, take a deep breath and ask yourself how you can feel just a little better in that situation.

Trust the process. Let the compound effect do its work.

Happy reflection!
